Big day today!!!!
The motor is all done at the engine shop. Just have to figure out how to pay for it, then bring it home and install all the peripherals. (tomorrow's job)

Of course if someone were to buy my guitar collection I could get my motor paid AND buy the new manifolds!!!! lol.

Been lazy over Christmas....
I did manage to gain 3 pounds though (no more Christmas cookies for a while)!

All I did was drop off the gimble housing to the marine tech.
I Didn't pick up the engine from that nice warm engine shop.
And I will not do it until there's a nice day. Too cold in my garage to clean parts (or do anything else).

It is also snowing today. So I'll have to kill what's left of my back shovelling :(
Maybe I'll lose the 3 pounds....hmmmm.

Well, I picked up the motor from the engine shop today. Very excited to get it home.
I started to bolt up a few of the new goodies and found....

1) the new circulating waterpump pulley hub is either bent or the shaft is... as the brand new aluminum 3V pulley wobbles OOR (out of round) when seated. The hub is just pressed on the shaft so, I tried to "tap" it with a hammer to no avail. I called Dennis Moore and he is sening a replacement.

2) the new 3V aluminum crank pulley is the wrong one! (no wonder that kit was cheap). So while on the phone, I ordered the correct one from Dennis Moore. maybe I can use the ones that don't fit the boat on my Corvette.

I also instaled the the motor mounts, distributor and brand new spark plugs. I went with AC Delco MR43LTS (I'm usually an NGK man) so we'll see how they work.

Worked on cleaning up the power steering cooler and lines last night.
The cooler is copper, so I polished it (on the machine) and I will clear coat it tonight.
I think I will also replace all the lines with steel braided lines and proper fittings.
It will be an extra expense but will give peace of mind, be more serviceble and make for a great looking engine bay.

Still looking to sell the Corvette so I can buy my exhaust manifolds!!!

The new circulating water pump (and 3V crank pulley) got here yesterday.
It's -12C today so, I'm not going in the garage as it has no heat!

I hate sitting around, so I ordered a new Saginaw power steering pump from NAPA that has the keyway and provision for a bolt on pulley. (the original is a press on)

I was only going to order just the pump portion and re-use my resivoir but, it was only $12 difference to have a new resivoir sealed by the factory...so now I have a spare (complete) pump.

My daughter has an out of town Basketball tournament on Saturday (forcast +4C). So I don't know if I'll get to bolting things on the motor for a while as it gets colder again after Saturday.

**note to self...next house has a heated garage!

PS There has been quite a few inqueries on the Corvette so I can almost smell the new Hi-Tek manifolds for the boat.

Also, have decided to liquidate all my collected trappings of the past couple of decades...
sold a bunch of 1/18 diecast Porches, some parts for collector carl long sold and a half dozen or so bar beer signs...all in the name of the BOAT FUND!

Okay it was -28C this morning... Whats that about?
I can't even pick up my tools without my hands freezing so no work done today!

I did order all new cooling system hoses as well as an alternator and power steering belt though.

Well, it's been a few weeks since anything has happened on the boat. So, yesterday I sold my Corvette and today I ordered some new Hi-Tek stainless steel exhaust manifolds/risers for the 4.3 (Happy Valentines day to me!). It should take a week or two to get here from Austrailia. I'm stoked!!!

Put the new waterpump on today. Found the correct bolts for the new alloy pullies and bolted them on too. Started fooling with the power steering pump/ alternator bracket and laying out all the hardware. Ordered a pair of lifting eyes for the block as the Vortech heads require a different one and I'll be removing the temporary lifting plate on the intake.

I went and bought some stainless HD bolt type clamps fo the cooling hoses and installed the main hose from the waterpump to the thermostat housing....
This thing is starting to look like a motor!

Installed the starter, flywheel housing and main wiring harness, coil and distributor last night. Still a few grounds to snug up and I have not installed the carb yet so just a few more wires to go.
It was so cold in the garage I had to take a break every 20 minutes or so to warm the fingers and toes!
I also managed to get the alternator mounted. I had to mess with the w/p pulley a bit as it had a wobble...shimmed out now. Crank pully is all torqued up and the hose from T-stat to w/p is on.

Still haven't tackled the power steering pump and cooler as I'm not sure if I'm buying new lines (steel braided).

It's been a big week so far in the garage.

My Hi-Tek exhaust manifolds arrived from Austrailia....and I couldn't wait to test fit them! They are so light compared to the factory manifolds and risers it's crazy. They look great too, all in chromed stainless steel they make this V6 really look like a hopped up small block V8. I anticipate the performance will be there to match the looks.... Not just the power but, Hi-Tek claims much more efficient fuel usage by up to 20% (10% power increase).

I also decided to stay with a mechanical fuel pump. So, I purchased a Holly 110 gph model as it was ereasonably priced and does not require a regulator. also, Edelbrock does not make a marine version of it's pump (with the vent tube).

In anticipation of installing the fuel system I also ordered a "hard line" fuel supply line where I will add a fuel block and a small fuel pressure gauge.
