    What grease should I use?

As the other guys mentioned, I too normally just use OEM brand product. Meaning something along the lines of either Merc or BRP brand etc. If you get good Marine rated grease, it should actually be, not only water resistent, but also be somewhat able to repel water too. Probabaly the...

    Brunswick Discontinues Maxxum Production

Sorry to hear that. Right now, people are just not buying luxury items and it's really hurting the industry. You gotta know that when Merc is hurting, that things aren't good. :( -Chris

    Mercruiser 470 3.8 LT. 4 CYC. OVERHEATING

Agreed. I'd revisit the water-pump and make sure it's good to go. We've seen all kinds of stuff over the years and the most common thing that comes up, even after it's been serviced, is issues with the water pump itself. I've heard of people installing them backwards, run them dry right after...

I normally use Marine Grease as it's better at dealing with water and moisture. :) -Chris

Call goes out: mandate boat licensing. Should they do it or not, If you really think

Well, I basically grew up at my Grandparents cottage. And yeah, like what you do, Grandma and Grandpa had lots of rules to keep me safe. And if I broke the rules, then there was a loss of priviledges. Like what you do, I could go certain places without a life-jacket and the minute I went...

    motor boogs down

For '66, my manual lists a 80 HP and a 100 HP. For '64 or '65 they list a 90 HP. I looked for the factory compression rates, but they weren't listed in the manual. Which is kinda dumb.... :irked: -Chris

    motor boogs down

Bluehorse, I've got a Seloc manual which I believe covers your year of motor. What is the exact year and exact H.P.? I don't list a 95 H.P. I've got a 90 listed. Let me know and I'll see if there are specs for the compression. Generally, with compression, you want to see even figures...

Call goes out: mandate boat licensing. Should they do it or not, If you really think

Chris, there was a headline on the Sun today, saying nine people have died in nine days in Muskoka related to boating. Obviously a sad development. But it kinda proves the point to me. Which is, enforce the existing rules and regulations and that in itself is enough. In the end, pretty well...

    Inboard/Outboard Conversion to Outboard

As Chris E said, totally possible to do, but maybe not worth the investment of time, money and effort. Why not just look for something already ready to go. :) -Chris

    motor boogs down

Hi bluehorse, Sounds like a fun project - hopefully you'll show us some pics. :thumb: With those old motors, the ignition systems are pretty finicky. It sounds like you've already done quite a bit of work. I would have a good look at the ignition system and overhaul it. I gather...
