I need some info about a tilt and trim motor

So this isn't one of the early Merc units that had a seperate reservoir? With the old system, there was a pump system that usually got mounted inside the boat. The newer systems have everything mounted on the motor itself. -Chris

    Going for a ride!

Actually it was a fairly warm day from what I remember. The lake was actually quite a bit rougher than it looks like in the pics. I like the lake when it's choppy, so I started running up and down the lake, doing some wide open fun runs across the white caps and Yolie thought she would...

I need some info about a tilt and trim motor

Welcome aboard Paul. :) Nice to have you with us. :thumb: Is this the older style Merc pump that had the seperate reservoir? Or is it all integrated into the motor? eBay is always a good spot for finding good used parts. You could also try your local Merc dealer and see what they have...

Need advice on upgrading my motor

Oh yeah! Anticipation ain't the word. And I saved that box! :rof: I had to drive 1 1/2 hours from Toronto to get the motor, then drove 1 1/2 hours back home with it. Then I had to wait a few days and drive it 2 1/2 hours up to the cottage. Finally I got to mount it the next...

Need advice on upgrading my motor

I know my Merc was one of the last North American made 2 stroke models. I believe after 06 Merc moved production of the small 2 stroke models "off-shore". So your dealer might be right in that they are the same. There are other cases where manufacturers supply major components like powerheads...

Need advice on upgrading my motor

BRP just brought out some smaller ETEC models including a 25 HP. I took a few pictures of them at the 09 Toronto Boat Show. Not sure what they weigh though... I shall investigate! Mercs little 25's and 30 I believe are also rope start EFI's which is very cool. I thought they were a...

Need advice on upgrading my motor

Hi Steve, Welcome aboard, nice to have you with us. What is the max power rating of your Sylvan? Some 14' Tin boats can handle quite a bit of weight and power, others can't. It really depends on the model of boat and how it's constructed. And with the lighter weight models, if you get too...

It was a nice day today here in Toronto. It got up to 11 C or 51 F. It was warm up north at the cottage too. Hopefully the snow will disappear soon so we can get the season started. :thumb: -Chris
