Legislation seeks changes to red snapper management

I spent many a weekend chasing "red Snapper" as a young man. H*ll, I'd chase all kinds of snapper with mixed results but, one thing was clear ... I could never get enough! Now I know things have changed and there may not be as much snapper as there used to be but, to me... they look much...

Maryland trade group discusses ways to lure new boaters

I think the youngin's are more with the PWC craze. After so m any accidents our government tightened up a bit with an operators license requirement. I don't know how much good it does but, I think it scares some off.

    power plant help

Sounds like your Dad has already set the benchmark... Maybe do some research on what parts you'll need to stuff the 888 in the boat and price them out. Thay might help clarify any decisions before real cash is spent.

    power plant help

No hate for Ford.... just looking at the costs of switching. If you have to rebuild the 888 anyways, whats the difference of which motor you start with? a core? Also, SBC parts are a whole lot more plentyful and usually less expensive. The combinations of different spec parts are well...

    power plant help

I'd put another SBC in. The drag engine would not be a good marine engine without a rebuild...cams pistons etc...remember it was built for another totally different specific purpose. I wouldn't use any Ford engine unless it came with one originally. A BBC is nice...but, too much $$$ to do...

    huge freighter,huge wake

If you are going to boat where the freighters are... wear your "Depends". My vote would be to stay clear of them. Alter your course early (it's not like you can't see 'em coming). Keep maximum distance possible If you have to turn and run nobody's gunna scold you for it. Ultimately, when...

Researchers think Shackleton's ship is still intact

This sounds like a similar situation to the 1812 warships, USS Scourge and USS Hamilton, 200 year old ships on the bottom of Lake Ontario...perfectly preserved. Also HMS Ontario at the bottom of lake Ontario in 450 ft of water is said to be pristine in condition. Cold clean water seems to be the...

DC Police Boat Hits, Sinks Docked Craft!

I don't think there's any question as to DC police paying up. But, there's lots to investigate... was this officer just jacking around, or was there a real call? Was he following proceedures? Do proceedures exist? How long has the officer been on river patrol? What training did he have? Did he...

    California residents oppose megayacht mooring

If you don't like airplanes flying overhead...don't buy a house near the airport. If you don't like boats mooring near your house, don't buy a house by the harbour. Simple enough right?
