Engine fogged, anti freeze in, oil & filters changed, drive off and split.
just packin' up the upper drive for the trip to Florida.
While winterizing we also checked the tachometer for accuracy as this is what we have been using to judge prop performance. Results say my tach no more than 100...
If I could find a Job down there with y'all, I'd be first in line for my Green Card! :)
Although, I have spent come time in the US and many of your southern rivers/lakes are of the "brown" variety (caused by vegitation). The spring fed rock bottom lakes up here that freeze are crystal clear...
It's a hard thing to winterize your boat when the weather is this nice.
Friday on Lake Muskoka was 21*C and sunny. The lake was almost void of boaters and was like glass all day even in the open and middle of the lake. I can't say I've ever had better conditions.
Saturday was 20*C and almost...
The ol' Merc Laser was a total POS!!!!
IT was heavy, and unbalanced plus it sent vibrations throughout the entire boat. because of this I just couldn't run it for long. I tried to test what I could and found the hole shot sucked...followed by a less than responsive midrange. The top end...
Okay, so I had the MW XHS analysed (without getting it wet).
Each blade measured 23.4 sqin so, x4 = 93.75 sqin of blade surface.
My High Five was 17.9 sqin x5 = 89.68 sqin of blade surface.
Given that the MW was 1" greater pitch (cost = 150-200 rpm) AND greater surface area of 4 sqin ... the...
Make sure you drain your block and manifold(s) before running the anti-freeze.
My 4.3 V6 will hold about 2.5 litres of mercury anti freeze in the block this winter. I store in a heated underground garage.
Looks like this thread ain't over...
I just bought a Michigan Wheel XHS 4 20p prop (14 1/8 dia.) MW do not make a 19p 4 blade application. My hope is to gain around 400 rpm with the loss of a blade and then give back 200 of it by going up 1" in pitch.
The net result on my home made computer...
Politics knows no bounds...
I doubt that this shutdown will affect boaters very much (at least with their boating). Maybe some of those "non essential" government workers can spend some quality time on the waterways untill they are recalled netting an increase in boating.... well, it's a theory.
You wonder why the CG cannot amalgamate with the Navy... It may broaden the Navy mandate however, by eliminating much of the top end CG administration and restructuring you would have a more efficient organization with a wider range of operations.
Restructuring is not new to the business...
