I wish I could help more, but unfortunately, I'm more of an outboard guy.
I would think one of the major considerations though, would be the kind of outdrive and what it will work with.

You're very welcome.
Keep us posted on how you make out. :)
A few years back, I bought an old aluminum boat, trailer and two old non running OMC's for $400 bucks. I sold the trailer for $100 and then I restored one of the old motors and fixed up the boat. It had a bunch of leaky rivets...
You're welcome.
What I would do is keep an eye on eBay and perhaps a vintage brochure will come up for sale.
I checked for you earlier but didn't see any, but new ones are always popping up. :)

The site that I usually refer to when I forget the HIN format is this one.
Perhaps it will help you as well. :)

Hi Hubby,
How many digits long is the number stamped into the transom?
I ask, was the HIN's that comply with the rules after the early 70's should be twelve digits long with the last two digits being the year of manufacture.
If your HIN is less than twelve then it's most likely not...
Here are a few pictures of a beautiful 40' Van Dutch that was at the show. This boat was huge and a little difficult to get shots of due to it's size and also due to where it was locatd at the show.
Man this thing was nice!
