picked you a new car for the wife

Great vehicle, man. Even with the high miles, you can't hardly go wrong with that purchase. I had a '92 4X4 1500 Suburban that I just recently traded, in 18 years of ownership that was one of THE best vehicles I've ever owned. It had 178,000 on it when I sold it, got $4500 for it. I did shed a...

    Midwest Spots?

In my opinion, you can't beat Table Rock Lake in Missouri. Beaver Lake in Arkansas is another good one. I've boated on Table Rock for over 22 years. Crystal clear deep water, un-matched scenery, and not very crowded unless you're up by Branson and the dam, and even that is not bad at all.

    different kind of prop question

Prop selection can indeed be a frustrating and near 'black magic' type of thing sometimes. SO many different factors. I've introduced more people than I can easily remember to boating over the past 30+ years, and...sigh...usually got to help them with their problems. Diameter, pitch, cup, number...

A few pics of the Baja....

Yeah, I'll definitely have to do this soon. In 22 years of ownership I, uh..have a few pictures, lol!

    My FX4

I'm not sure if your 2002 has the 'fly-by-wire' throttle or not? Where there is no linkage to the throttle body but rather an electronic actuator...? There ARE a lot of these helpful tips around the 'Net, for sure. I just don't know about this one. I know that my truck "learns" how you drive...

    move towards outboards? Your thoughts...

The 2400 BRX is pretty cool. I like the "horsepower - unlimited" statement...lol!

    New truck tires

lol...the drills were another auction purchase from Crestview. Brand new Craftsman 19.2 volt, which I had a few of already. So I picked up a circular saw, drill, and a couple of lights. I got three lights and a drill for $5, the saw cost me $10. :)

    move towards outboards? Your thoughts...

Throw in the fact that the I/O engines now require catalytic converters and it starts making even more sense for the outboard. I was looking at a couple of 20' Stingrays, one I/O powered and one outboard powered, same type of seating arrangment (single seats port and starboard, bench seat behind...

    New truck tires

I hear you, man. The county I live in has the 2nd highest personal property taxes in the state, my boat cost me $800 in 1999 in taxes. Stupid, and they wonder why everyone suddenly has a house in Oklahoma to register their boats and RVs out of. I went thru my boat a couple of years ago and...

    move towards outboards? Your thoughts...

I remember back several years ago when I was looking at a 25' Baja that had a 502 Mag in it, I asked what it would take to put an HP500 Bulldog in it and the quote was around an additional $45K. I could BUILD that engine for a 1/3 of that...lol!

    replacing swim ladder

You and I are kind of in "the same boat"...lol! I have a top mount that fold overs and extends three steps down but man! As I've uh...put on a few pounds over the years, sometimes that first step is a doozy! :o I think you'd be happiest if you can find a replacement for your stock location...

    New truck tires

Yeah, Mike Morgan is the real deal...a good guy and Shady Creek is a top-notch operation. I asked Mike if he was going to carry Baja again, and he was very interested in doing so. My favorite thing to do at El Dorado was to cruise over to Rock Quarry and hang out, there were usually a few...

    move towards outboards? Your thoughts...

The last few boat shows I've gone to have had an ever-growing number of manufacturers going to or at least including an outboard option where traditionally there was only an I/O option. Personally, I've never been a big fan of outboards due mainly to all the problems I've seen over the years...

    New truck tires

El Dorado is about 5' below average, still quite usable. I haven't been there for years, I moved my boat to Missouri back in '99 and it's not seen anything but the crystal clear water of Table Rock Lake since...lol! Cheney Reservoir just west of Wichita is another lake I used to go to a lot...

    Has anybody experience with....

There is something weird with that, yes. I don't know if there are patents or proprietary rights involved or what...but yeah, something is odd. I have always been surprised by the seeming self-imposed limit on SEI products. I don't think they offer anything other than lower units for Bravo 1...

    Has anybody experience with....

I've a few friends in the business and frankly, about the ONLY people that don't like SEI work for or sell Mercury/Mercruiser. One of my friends who works at a large marine dealer has told me that a lot of insurance companies push SEI lower units HARD as replacements for Mercruiser Bravo 1...
