When is the last time you changed the impeller? That's always where I start. After a few years they just start to disintegrate, so they need to be changed as a regular maintenance item. -Chris

People do exceed the limit, the problem with doing so though, is that your insurance company might not be willing to insure you. So you would want to check that out. And also, the laws about doing so vary from place to place, so you might want to check and see what the laws are in your area...

What is the max HP the boat is rated for? I would guess 25 will move it along and more ponies would move it along faster still. -Chris

OK. I gotcha now. A couple of things you could try... -Try adjusting the manual tilt pin to the lowest position and see if helps the boat plane. -Move some weight forward, the gas tank is a good item to move there. If the fuel hose isn't long enough, just get some hose and lengthen it...

My preference are the Mercs. OMC is now out of business, although BRP I believe have taken up the torch. I don't think you'll really go terribly wrong with either make. What I'd probably do is concentrate on getting one that's in the best shape possible regardless of what colour it is...

Bert, See if you can find the hull indentification number. It should be stamped into the back right hand side of the hull. The first three letters indicate the manufacturer. If you post the letters here, we can probably look them up and see what we can find out. :) -Chris

I think I misunderstood. Originally, I thought you mentioned you couldn't get the boat to plane because of a lack of power. Are you saying the boat is porpoising? As in the nose bouncing up and down at WOT? -Chris
