Seeking advice regarding boat dealers/brokers...what to look for? Is it like looking for a car dealer? What warning signs should I be aware of? Thanks for any input and advice.

The BBB can be a good source of info. Searching google is also good. I guess the best source of info is a referral from a satisfied customer. Typically people bitch before they compliment, so sometimes it's easy to find complaints but harder to find happy customers who are often less motivated to speak up versus someone who is ticked off.

At EdgeWater Power Boats we always suggest checking with the Better Business Bureau and your state's consumer services agency. Make sure the boat dealer has been in business in the same location for a while, or if it is someone new, ask who they've worked for. Also, make sure they carrying brands of fishing boats, family boats or ski boats that you've heard of.

never buy any boat without walking all inside it and around it. also never buy a boat without a water test or a trusted mechanic to look at it.
