Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Grant Barlow and I live in Galena, Illinois. Galena is 3 miles north and 15 miles east of the Mississippi River, which is where I will be doing my boating. In the past, I did my boating in lakes in Northeastern Illinois and Northern Wisconsin.
We were without a boat for the last several years until last month when we bought a classic Boston Whaler Nauset "Handyman's Special". I have since installed a new(er) motor and refinished the center console. I still need to redo the seats and build a rear seat, at which point the boat will become an Eastport.
My first boat was my Father's. He purchased ca. 1964-5 a Starcraft Cartopper, 14 ft., 110 lbs., powered by a 1962 Evinrude 5.5 (still have).
As it was falling apart, I junked it in the late '90's and purchased a 1968 (titled as a '72) Boston Whaler Sakkonet. I sold it around 2003 and we were boatless until last month.
We look forward to getting back on the water next spring when the river thaws.
