Engine Replacement

Can I replace a 2.3 OMC 4 cylinder with a 3.8 OMC V6 without many problems??

I wish I could help but I know nothing about OMC engines. I am sure like the mercruisers there will be differences. just like a car engine a v6 usually has a different bolt pattern for the bell housing. I will see what I can dig up that may help.

are you planning on changing just the motor or the motor, transom bracket, and outdrive?

from what I can find to swap between the two you would need

1. motor
2. transom bracket
3. outdrive (different gearing)
4. redo the motor mounts

and most of all patience as it is not a direct swap.

Replacement

I as planning on just replacing the motor. The out drive is good, the motor is just junk. Doesn't sound like that will work tho.
