Bought a donor boat yesterday

Hey, managed to find a 17' Edson Sunbird GT with a 4.3 / alpha 1 combination....Got it at the right price (with a trailer too). I took it directly to my buds last night, and today it has been stripped bare.

Also found some 4.3 Vortec heads for $120 /pr and then orderd an Edelbrock 2114 manifold, 1409 carb combination.

It will cost about $400 to rebuild the new heads ...or $2000 to do the entire engine.

I don't know which exhaust manifolde to use though. IMCO Thumpers, Dennis Moore or Hi-Tek... I would like to have a diverter system too but IMCO says theirs are not compatible.

Anyone have any comments/advice?

that is awesome. I am starting to believe that I purchased a donor boat without knowing it. although I am going to take my donor boat out for a tedt run this weekend. LOL. good luck on your project i hope all goes smooth.

I got the fever...bad.
The 1996+ Vortec high flow heads are now at the shop getting rebult with a little bowl work + some cleanup and 1.6 exhaust valves. Carb and manifold are being shipped.

Now I'm looking at 1.6 rockers, a mild cam and still cant decide on the performance exhaust (but I want a diverter system on it)

My old motor was 165 HP, the donor was 175 HP and this little dynamo should push close to 250 HP !
