anchoring

learned a few things the hard way this weekend..

trying to anchor down and watch a concert from the river, and fireworks.. we bought our boat from a couple who kept it on a lake. the little bitty anchor was NO match for the flooded mississippi :( the current was incredible! and we werent the only ones...

So, I need to buy a new anchor...just not sure what size/style? not huge because I have nowhere to stow...

Our boat is 17'

any guidance would be much appreciated!

Make sure it has a good mount of chain at the anchor end. the weight of the chain is what makes the anchor stay down and bite. without it will just start pulling up and will not dig in. most anchor kits includes the chain.

I saw a diagram saying you needed chain, I wondered if that's what it was for...

thanks!
