    A Grew History Lesson Please

the old grews were built very well, anything from the early 90's back would be worth perserving. my brother in law worked for suzuki for a few years, they had grew build them a challanger clone to test the big V6's on - here is a link i had totally forgotten about...

    A Grew History Lesson Please

grew had several owners over the years, they built boats by slickcraft in the 70's (which later became pursuit/tiara yachts). later they built under licence from chris craft - mid eighties to early ninety's. they went bankrupt in the 90's, and the owner of cutter boats bought the name and...

Are Marine Products Worth the Higher Price?

be careful of those gasket sets, we had a problem with auto gasket sets and marine engines because they are freshwater cooled, they'd rust out the steel on the head gaskets causing leaks - not good. you only use one type of fastener on swim platforms - stainless, anything else will rust off...

    "Wanted" Larson boat canopy

i worked for a sea ray dealer for several years, they kept their parts for 5 years as required by US law (as i was told anyway), i think that boat is much older than 5 years so, chances are you'll have to have something custom made.

    "Wanted" Larson boat canopy

best bet is to have it made locally. very few companies made their own canvas.

    PROBLEM WITH UP BUTTON ?

likely the problem is the trim limit switch on the outdrive has failed. have a look, the wires have probably rotted off, your boat is old enough to have that issue. part is sold as a set with sender and limit switch and is around 100.

Questions re new floor & stringers

plywood is much stronger, and proper encapsulated, will be water proof. as far as cheaper, i think, dollar for dollar, you'll find plywood cheaper - don't worry about going with marine grade, g1s or sheathing grade is fine, you're covering it with glass anyway. on the boat i am restorting, it...

    Engine cleaner

starbrite bilge cleaner works awesome, we always used Kleen Flo's engine shampoo, it was acutally a pretty good degreaser, just put it in a spray bottle. i've used castrol's super clean which is less than environmentally friendly, works awesome, but you'll want to make sure you hose things down...

Questions re new floor & stringers

i'd make sure you put some type of bracing of some kind underneath - aluminum plate or something, i have seen poles pull out of floors. i will probably do a deck mount when i get to that point, with aluminum plating under all mounting points to strengthen everything.
