Engine cleaner

The boat has been setting all winter long, and am getting started on clean-up.

The I/O engine has a dust/moisture residue all over it. I want to clean it up. I can buy some store engine cleaner, or use "something else", (not sure what I'd use).

I don't want to damage the bilge pump.

 Suggestions ??

A good marina should have some fibreglass and eco friendly bilge cleaner.

I would be careful using anything automotive as I don't know how they would work on 'glass.

starbrite bilge cleaner works awesome, we always used Kleen Flo's engine shampoo, it was acutally a pretty good degreaser, just put it in a spray bottle. i've used castrol's super clean which is less than environmentally friendly, works awesome, but you'll want to make sure you hose things down fairly quick.
