Went by the engine shop today...
Block is all torn down, cleaned and honed.
Planned out the oil pan modifications.
Assembly will start next week.
And at home I sand blasted my thermostat housing...how exciting.
Okay, stupid story about putting the boat away earlier this week....
I'm in a...
Our (Canadian) Thanksgiving was back in October...
Yes, ditching the kids is fun but it's nice to get them back (for a while).
My daughter is away at the Ontario High School provincial Basketball championship tournament this week and my son is immersed in PS3 so it's been quiet around here...
I was interested because I'm looking for a project hull....and yours looks great.
The traditional "go fast" boats Donzi, Fountain, Sutphen etc... are usually quite pricey even in project form.
I'm looking for a boat that'll handle rougher water.
Deadrise is just the measurement of the angle of the "V" in your hull at the transom. Deeper V boats handle the rougher water better... for example the Donzi Classics are 24 degrees.
This thread explains it...and has a diagram...
All went well with the weekends work.
The trim new piece for the stem was too narrow so I took a piece of the old rub rail, cut it to length and shaped the ends. I then steel-wooled (fine) the entire length to get rid of the built up cr*p, filed away any burrs and then polished to a high gloss...
Hey Venom...welcome.
This is a great place and we like to hear about you, your boat, what you're workin' on, your questions, your answers, where you're boating, stories of all kinds and of course pictures!
It was a slow boating day today....
So, as the boat is not hitting storage till Monday now, I pulled out the old bow eye and the trim that runs down the stem/keel. Will sand, fill screw holes, repaint with anti-foul tomorrow and then secure a new trim piece on Sunday.

Also need a Mercruiser 4bbl throttle linkage bracket if there`s one out there.
Thanks,
S.

3) I bought a set (kit) of Bennett trim tabs...
4) Tomorrow I'm meeting up...

Well,
I've been posting enough that I thought i should keep a progress report (of sorts) in one place. So, this is the place.
The (condensed) story so far...Bought the factory original boat in 2008. general condition overall was good. A couple of soft spots led to a chain of decisions that...
We use a cell phone....but my boat is just a runabout and we are on small lakes where you can always see the shore.
If I were out in Lake Ontario I'd have a VHF for sure!
Vancouver and Victoria are about 3000kms from me (it's a big country) and are beautiful. They are a very different landscape from central/eastern Canada which is equally beautiful in a different way. I've never been to OZ, but plan on getting there someday.
As for my boat woes...I just pitched...
