Brunswick seeks low-cost options for new boaters

I'm not an eggbeater or a jet guy.... While the industry may be in for some changes... I don't like the way this is heading. Going forward...Merc and Volvo will no longer use GM based engines. I don't know Volvos plan but, if Merc builds their own I see a much smaller circle of parts...

    NEW PROJECT!!!

2,400 kms round trip from Friday 8AM to Sat (really Sun) 1AM. All home safe & sound. Beautiful drive. Loved Long Island and will have to go back some summer. The ferry ride to Conneticut was fun. Found some good food and nice people. HATED driving through NYC. Crappy roads, poorly marked...

Brunswick seeks low-cost options for new boaters

Yes but, Brunswick continues to charge $ 4,500 for a sterndrive replacement I can buy from SEI for $ 1,300 even though Merc is larger and enjoys economies of scale. Looks to me like Brunswick/Mercury/Mercruiser overhead is a little too thick and they have more opportunities to waste their huge...

Wow... You're starting from bare pontoons! I didn't thing you would be pullin' her apart that much. You really can use your imagination and build something spectacular. That's a lot of work you have done....good job for a great start.

    crown 1998 192br

I'm 53. had my last ride mid October due to logistics of getting a few things done. I just tucked my boat away for the winter on Nov 4th BUT..... I just bought another project boat and brought it home to Toronto this weekend (2,400 kms from Long Island, NY). So, I'll have lots of "boating" to...

Not all cool mods cost a lot of dough.... and you're replacing the old look anyways. For example, I know it's a lot of labour but, it would be really cool if you got some compound and a decent buffer so you could POLISH those pontoons! Instant class. Of course it might make you scale up what...

    NEW PROJECT!!!

Well, roll the dice.... I put the Greavette away yesterday as I just couldn't bear to see it outside in the weather any longer. I'm going to Fenlon Falls Ontario to see a new (to me) trailer tomorrow. It's a Shorelandr' that was used once about 4 years ago to bring a 17' boat about 20 miles from...

    NEW PROJECT!!!

heading to Long Island next weekend. Think I may have found a trailer to buy for the Donzi. If so, I can put the Greavette away for the winter (it's snowing today) and have one less thing to worry about for next weekend.

    1972 18' Greavette Sunflash IV psudo-blog

Picked the Greavette up yesterday. Installed a complete bellows so the exhaust really is through the prop. The old system discoloured the drive in just a few hours. The drive looks new again but, I would say SEI powdercoating is still suspect. This time... to brittle. As the drive was torqued...
