I would think there should still be a capacity plate mounted somewhere. It might be on the transom, or it might be inside. That plate might also help you as it might have a HIN or serial number too. Essentially back in the mid 70's it became the standard for all manufacturers to start stamping...

Did you check to see if it's stamped into the hull, on the back right hand side below the rub rail? 1975 was right around the time when manufacturers started stamping HIN into the hulls. It might be a year or two early though... :) -Chris

Gotcha. It could be a lot of things that would cause it not to rev right up. It could be a dirty carb, an ignition issue, bad gas or a whole bunch of other things too. -Chris

Cool! :) Welcome aboard - nice to have you with us. :thumb: There are different ways to go stain wise, but one thing you might want to consider if you want a really nice finish is using analine dyes instead of just stain. Dyes have very little pigment unlike regular consumer type stains, so...

Why not just look for a good used set of proper controls on eBay? It might be easier then messing around. It's usually the cables themselves where the value is. The control boxes are usually fetched pretty cheaply. -Chris

Myself, I always retract the roof or remove the cover. I find even with full mooring covers, the wind whips them around and it leaves marks. -Chris

What does the manual say? Usually what they say is something like this... Turn the screw all the way in until it seats itself, then back it out a certain number of turns and then make fine adjustments until the motor runs smoothly. -Chris
