According to our owners manuel, there is a cold weather suggestion for outside boat storage. It is a simple one:

1) Loosen up your bow winch line

2) Remove your transom straps

REASON: They claim that it puts less "stress" on the fiberglass.

For whatever it is worth !!!!!!!! ;)

Never heared of it myself, Butt always thought about it myself, Also Saves the bow strap it's self from stress and getting old sooner. Also you should lower the stern drive to save the rubber bellows from "wearing out sooner".:poke::)
 
The most important winterizing considerations relate to making sure your boat is prepared to deal with below freezing temperates.

I keep my boat in my shop every time I come back from the lake I loosen all my straps. It can't hurt it only can help
