starter replacement

I would like to know if I can replace the starter on my boat with a auto parts store starter or do I have to use a marine type starter. I am living on a small pension. any advice will be helpful. Thanks

Have you looked into just rebuilding your existing starter?

Many marinas do it on site.

X 2 with the rebuild, It may cost you less $$$ to go that route, other than that you will need to find a marine style starter, One reason is for your safety, Two would be for your boat insurance requirements, And three the coast guard requires it.
