Hey Coop I here the future of Baja Boats in Bucyrus is questionable. Also heard they are going to shut down the 171 Sea Ray line down all together. Have you heard anything.

Wow!

There were rumours floating around and it sounded like the opposite was being considered. To me, it sounded like Baja was looking at buying Fountain.

That is a bombshell!

Searay 175 line will be ending on March 31st due to to the fact they are a day behind of schedule then all molds will be shipped back to Tenn. they have already taken 1 set of molds &the foaming jig after May 23rd the only employees left until July 31st is for warrenty boats so will be a only a few select employees left to do those

Wasn't there just recent rumours that Brunswick planned to build Sea Rays at the Baja Bucyrus plant?

I hope the employees of the plant get taken care of properly.

Baja just built a new mold for Searay a 278 model I believe that 's what it's called but as of now we'll no longer plan to build

Geez, what a waste of time.

From the sounds of things, it sounds like the Baja product line is going to get pruned on the biggest and smallest boats.

I would think the logical thing to do would be to have the Baja line fill in the holes the current Fountain line leaves open. Like on the smaller length boats. But it sounds like some of the smaller boats might get dumped as well as the biggest.

This should be interesting...

After the closeing date of May 23 Baja will give some employees the option of either going to Tenn. with Sea Ray or going to North Carolina with Fountian.

Well that's something at least.

I thought I read somewhere everyone was being let go or not offered alternative jobs.

Hopefully, anyone who doesn't want to relocate will be treated fairly.

I also read that there might be some interest in the factory from another firm, who might need some help as well.

So we'll keep our fingers crossed for our friends in Bucyrus. :thumb:
