Hello, my name is SP and my wife and I want to get more into boating. We are looking into purchasing our first boat within the next year. I will be mainly using it for sportfishing... does anyone have any suggestions? If I had the money, I would buy the Viking 42C... but that is way too expensive... at least for now. Looking forward to getting involved in this website

My wife and I are actually thinking of moving to Central America and opening a fishing charter. I grew up on the east coast fishing marlin tournaments out of Jersey and Maryland. That is definitely my favorite kind of fishing, billfishing that is, but I really enjoy the relaxation involved in fishing for anything. I live in Chicago right now and work 14 hours a day, but cannot wait to move and never look back on the life I am currently leading.

We are looking into getting a boat that is above 35' but most likely less than 45', at least for our first boat. If it works out, who knows, I would love to run a luxurious overnight charter on a 65' Hatteras... I can dream, can't I?

My uncle had a 50' Post that we used to fish tournaments in, but I wish I payed more attention to the details... what kind of electronics, engines, etc. Hoping to learn all of that soon

Wow! That is what you call sportfishing. I've seen some videos on youtube where a marlin pulls the fisherman over the side of the boat into the water.:eyecrazy:
Are you strapped into a seat when you go fishing?
Your plans sound fascinating. I remember when we were going through a recession in the late seventies and everyone was struggling. I was expressing some concern to a friend of mine and they said what are you worried about? You could sell your house and everything here, go to another country and live like a queen. And that is the truth!
What is the cost of living where you plan to go? :)
