Need Help Identifying Boat

First post here, i acquired this boat yesterday and am wondering what it could possibly be. It's about 13.5ft, and it had a tag that read 'United Engineering Co. Boat Division'. The tag is hard to make out, but it has some city and then Alabama. Hopefully somebody may identify this boat. Thanks

I'm not sure how old it is, however, if it was made after the mid 70's it should have a hull indentification number on it. The first three letters of the HIN corrospond to a manufacturer. They should be letters.

Perhaps these two sites might help explain it in a little more detail. :)

Let me know if that helps. :)

I did some googling...

Check this out...

There is a company in Alameda California called United Engineering Company that built a lot of big battle ships as well as navy type vessels, I wonder if it's the same company? Could be... :)

Try googling "United Manufacturing co" and you'll see lots of pages come up with old war U-boat references etc.

Pretty neat. :thumb:

I actually googled that last night and found the same company; great minds think alike :thumb:

The only tag i found was that- it has model which is unreadable, serial number which is 2192 and the date which is also unreadable.

However, if you look at the picture of the dash there is some sticker that has been painted over, looks like it could be a registration sticker possibly. Im going to check that out tomorrow

It most likely would have had a capacity plate at one time.

It probably would have listed the serial number, maxium HP and manufacturer info as well. It might also have a spot for the model number or name as well.

I guess all of that depends on how old it is though. I know some of our old 60's hulls still had D.O.T. capacity plates though. :)

Keep us posted on what and how you make out. Maybe someone else searching the forums or net will stumble on your thread and chime in somewhere along the line too. :)
