Hi All,

I have a 28' Hatteras and want to install a windlass....i keep getting conflicting opinions. Any opinions on vertical vs. horizontal?? BTW, I am an avid boater and storyteller. Check out my blog at http://bestboatbuzz.com/

I Have to give whoever runs this site credit, it is very difficult to get forums up and running. And, keep it interesting. I look forward to responses.

I had a vertical installed. I got a great price on the unit and labor. Its a freefall, which is what I wanted. Most of the boats have horizontal at the marina where I am.......this fits perfect on the deck and my locker is big enough to handle it all. Im pretty happy with the result. Honestly, I don't know how I got along without it. Supposed to be a great weekend here in the Northeast, could be the last boating days :(.
