high idle on johnson

ok i have a 1995 150 johnson it is idling high and it revs really high as soon as it starts then its idling at 1800 rpm all the time and have done checked the carbs and all the throttle linkages and all that stuff. i have made sure the yellow/red wire from the starter solonoid wasnt keepin power keeping it in quick start i have grounded the white/black wire for the quickstart temp sensor plus its idling at 1800 and quick start stops at 1100. i have checked the idle adjustment screws but it dont bring it down any and actually retarded the timing but it wouldnt come down but about 200 rpm it just acts like the timing is staying high for some reason. there is no throttle cable hooked up and the throttle is fully released. could the power pack have something wrong with it couse it set for 7 years causing it to stay idled up like that.:brickwall: any help with this would be very helpfull

Are you positive that the quick start is disengaging?

well for wat ive been told after 1100 rpm or if i ground the white and black wire comming from the power pack to the thermal sensor and if i dont have power on the yellowand red wire comming from the starter solonoid after it starts then the quick start should disengauge and ive grounded the w/b wire it idles above the 1100 rpm and i dont keep power on the y/r wire so enless there is something in the power pack causing it to say idled up idnt know wagt the deal is

well that wasnt a hole lot of help but it was in the general area but wat is this link and sync and how do i do it

link n sync is more or less a catchy name for OMC's throttle and timing advance adjustment procedure. So basically what they mean, is doing the procedure of adjusting the carb linkage (for wide and idle throttle) and then syncing the throttle and the ignition timing advance.

See if this post helps a bit. It's not for your model, but hopefully it will help a bit.
