Nathan, you're a good hunter. The Columbia 40 is a long-shaft. I'm talking to the owner, as we speak. Otherwise, it's what I want. I dive and I get into some obscure, shallow landings, sometimes. That's why I don't want the long shaft.
As you say, the Sumter motor is a short shaft, but, no tiller. You can change them, of course, but it's pricey to do, for me, and I'm also a bit leery of the fact that it's been hotted up with boring, etc. Not sure what that would do to reliability, and I wouldn't need the extra pzazz on a 16 foot Duracraft jonny.
