dittos; my merc 40 will get clogged almost every summer by tiny bees. they'll crawl in the hole lay a few eggs and cover the hole w/ mud. PIA, but popping the cowl; pulling the tube and working it w/ a piece of coat hanger dose the trick.
lakes are free here in the volunteer state! the Corp charges a launch fee. But you can stay on them as long as you like. The TWRA kicked fees around a few years back but us Tenn rednecks pitched such a revolt they backed away quicker than a NY minute.
Mercury and johnson both began rating their motors at the prop in the mid 80's. The best I can gather is Johnson began in 1982 and Mercury began in 1985. Japanese/asian motors have always rated their motors from the prop. Consensus is it has only made about a 10% difference or loss.

you can't legislate stupidity ......... unless you are the US Congress; oh, wait thats an oxymoron:D US laws are a classic example of why legislation dose not prevent fatalities. US highway deaths are rising inspite of seatbelt laws; speed limits; air bags and blood alcohol levels. The same...

I'd have to go with the Dodge; they have done a great job of modern styling while incorporating a very retro look...... for those of us who can remember what a REAL truck is supposed to look like.:thumb:
