Just guessing, but maybe it gets effected by the amount of magnetic material near it? I think most people are just buying GPS's now as you get the direction and so much more. :) -Chris

Depending on what you have it can sometimes be added to your house insurance. If it's a performance boat though however, you might have to go to a specialty insurer. So for my hot-rod I use Premier and for the rest, the house insurance covers them. :D At least that's how it works up here...

Yeah, I don't know what the deal was. Maybe the hull was already so damaged that it didn't matter. But you would have thought they could have somehow dug around it, then lifted it with a crane and put it on to a trailer. Or at least something other than what they did! :D -Chris

Well ,my understanding was with that type of steering system, that it didn't really matter as much what you did with the trim tab or even that you have one at all. As an example, on my motor, I just have a flat style one which doesn't have a fin and the plate just basically acts as an anode...
