Put the new waterpump on today. Found the correct bolts for the new alloy pullies and bolted them on too. Started fooling with the power steering pump/ alternator bracket and laying out all the hardware. Ordered a pair of lifting eyes for the block as the Vortech heads require a different one...

What Kind of Crazy Do You Call This?

This was unintentional...the guy just got caught in the wrong place and had no other choice. Shouldn't of been there in the first place.

Well, it's been a few weeks since anything has happened on the boat. So, yesterday I sold my Corvette and today I ordered some new Hi-Tek stainless steel exhaust manifolds/risers for the 4.3 (Happy Valentines day to me!). It should take a week or two to get here from Austrailia. I'm stoked!!!

    Xtreme Wakeboarding

At the Toronto International Boat show they fill a hockey rink with water to make an "indoor lake". There is a wire and motor rig that hooks to a tow line and the wakeboarders do all the flips and such indoors! Members of the public ate also invited to come and try out wakeboarding....(in a dry...

I was backing up my previous points that Merc is a larger displacement and old school thinking is that "there is no substitute for cubic inches". That theory is proven. That motor is bigger, heavier, more powerful and (I'm guessing) less efficient. In my thinking, Yamaha 2 strokes are "clever"...

My point is you really can't tell without seeing some sort of dyno sheet or an actual head to head test. From all the data you can only surmise that they are close... I like the grunt of the larger displacement but, it is heavier, and I would bet less efficient than the Yamaha. If you have no...

Theoretically that sounds logical however, you are assuming all else being equal. Port size and shape, exhaust etc are all variables and the efficiencies of the motors will be different. As I eluded to...size matters but, Yamaha made their name on 2-strokes so, I bet that theirs is an...

As you know, 2-strokes are "torquey" and there's some truth to the addage that "there is no substitutr for cubic inches" when referring to engines.... Having said that, these 2 are close. The weight may be a small factor but I would be willing to bet the space under the torque curve on the...

I'm going to say it's even up.... you have to look at the power curves to see the differences then match to your usage. You'll be happy with either.

I'm contimplating doing this. Seems like a small enough risk. Those that sell genuine Mercury seem to dislike SEI, but most other reports have a good reccomendation. I did hear of an abnormally quick corrosion problem one guy had but SEI took care of it ASAP. It seems like they really stand...

I hope to find useful info here on my latest restoration project

Well, Fiberglass is FIBERGLASS however, with a power boat you will need to ensure the hull is especially sound around the stringers and transom. Some of that old stuff gets pretty "punky". tap around and listed for a hollow or dull sound. Check your fuel tank (aluminum plastic or steel) for...
