They are banned almost everywhere [at least "up here" they are] A lot of injured people, lawsuits, stuff like that.

Talking to the people who have done it, apparantly the MAIN problem was the guy driving the boat, it takes a real subtle throttle adjustments to "fly and land" safely. I was told by a guy that bought one years before they where banned that in MOST cases of injury [or death?] the driver would panic when the tube got too high and back off the throttle hard, this would cause the tube to nose dive and thats how people got hurt. According to the fella I know, if you are easy on the throttle and "know what your doing" you can fly and land safely. However, even the best throttleman cant predict a gust of wind at the wrong time.
