Purchased a low profile bilge pump and will install it today. Also picked up a fuel/water filter and a fuel vent anti surge valve. I will have to strengthen up the decks in the engine bay today, finish some wiring details and hopefully be ready for the new tank (ready this coming week. Once...

Company offers rental option for boat owners

I don't think I'd be rentin' my boat without a huge deposit and a minute and highly detailed pre/post inspection.

    Classic Racing Yachts

When I think of yacht racing that's the icon....J-Class, and maybe the old "America's Cup" spec 12 meter designs and the IACC designs. (I dislike the new Cats). Beautiful boats that require both skill and experience.

Well, The transom fix was fantastic! You can't even tell it's been done. The rebuilt (and powdercoated) gimble assembly is back on the boat. The T-plate is secure and torqued. the steering is hooked up too. The hitch this week was the "Y" pipe didn't have enough clearance from the decks...

Some pics of Sean's big Merc!

Yes, it does have an aftermarket grille that looks like a K-car but, I'm in the process of replacing it with OE.

    Checkmate closed its doors?

Well, Baja bought a mis-managed and downward spiriling DONZI so they could get even better! Looks like that is working out.

    Mercruiser 4.3

Just to put closure on this thread (for future readers)... I went with the Hi-Tek exhausts and had to custom grind a camshaft as the Merc one I bought was for a "balance shaft" motor. We used these specs on the original cam regrind. She dyno'd out at 236HP@5100 and 274lbft@3500

    Checkmate closed its doors?

Market share.... plain and simple. They just purchased all the loyal Checkmate owners, the goodwill and marketing value. Not to mention the design and technical stuff. Now, (the hard part) they consolidate and make the whole operation efficient without killing either brand.

    Do I Need Trim Tabs?

If you cruise at slow speeds, you can use less throttle (less gas) and keep the nose down. If you have more weight on one side than the other you can compensate to keep level...similar if your boat heels from propeller torque. lastly, they help get you on plane quicker. This can work in...

Drive showed up at the front step yesterday...Wow that was fast! It was packed nicely and looks great. I still pulled the SE106 stickers and will reinstall my vintage (metallic red) Mercruiser stickers. these are hard to come by so, I'll wait to make sure this is the drive for me.

    Do I Need Trim Tabs?

Trim tabs are a great addition, and in some cases a necessity. They also have tose "dolphin fins" that bilt to your stern drive...I'm not thrilled with those because of the stress it puts on the drive. PS if you want a "dolphin fin" i have one in my garage you can have for the cost of shipping.
