used to have an OLD larson - a 1968, got rid of that in 2003, and picked up a "new" 1986 sea ray, which we still run. maybe someday i will get into the 90's. currently restoring a 79 checkmate, but at the moment that is at a dead stop.

have you checked the water hose in the bell housing? the rubber will rot, causing the engine to overheat - very common problem and i didn't see it on your laundry list.

so true - you cannot legislate common sense - most of the boaters are pretty good on the whole, i've been teaching my oldest to drive the tin boat all summer, but as i told him, "we'll get your boaters licence, but then you have to pass MY test - guess which one will be harder?" before he goes...

this has been done before, just fill the hole and mount a bracket. you will replace the steering, control cables, battery cables, etc. you will also radically affect the ride and handling characteristics of the hull and the center of balance and center of gravity. in other words, it may work...

very depressing at our end of the lake - pulled the ladder, put the kayak away, and cleaned up the rest of the dock - the season is slowly coming to an end - man i hate this time of year.

hi don't no much about diesels, however, i think fresh oil in the engine and either draining the fuel system or putting some kind of stabilizer in the fuel to prevent the injectors from getting bunged up.
